Dear Parents/Carers,

A Happy New Year to you all, it’s wonderful to have the children back all full of enthusiasm and ready to challenge themselves in 2020.

I would like to extend a warm welcome to Miss Phillips, who has joined the St Michael’s team.  Once she has had a chance to settle in, we would like to invite parents/carers in for a ‘Meet the Teacher’ session – this is scheduled for Tuesday 14th January at 2.40pm in the Edison classroom.

The majority of children all look extremely smart in their school uniform, however, please can I remind parents/carers that boots and leggings are not part of school uniform and should not be worn, and that trainers should only be worn during PE lessons.  A number of children are also wearing nail varnish and an assortment of jewellery. If a child is wearing the incorrect uniform, an email will be sent home.  Your support is much appreciated.

Please note that Thursday 13th and Friday 14th February are INSET days, therefore no children will be in school.  This be followed by half term from Monday 17th February until Friday 21st inclusive.

Y6 Bewl Water Residential – thank you to parents that have returned the permission slips and those who have already started making payments towards the trip.  We can confirm that this will be going ahead and we welcome your payments.

Y5 Swattenden Residential – this will be taking place at the beginning of the next academic year 30thSeptember to 2nd October when the current Year 4 class are in Year 5.

On Wednesday 12th February Edison are inviting their parents to their class assembly at 2.40pm.  Entry as normal via the courtyard to the school hall.

Year 6 will experience a visit from a local Magistrate on 12th March when they will learn about our legal system and their responsibilities to be good citizens.

Class group photos will be taken on Wednesday 18th March.

On Wednesday 11th March we will be celebrating Sports Relief by holding a non-uniform day for a £1 donation, where children can dress up in sporty outfits.  All donations will go to the Sports Relief charity.

This year we are changing our reporting arrangements in line with the Tenterden Schools Trust.  Reports will now be sent out at the end of Term 4, this will enable parents/carers to have a clear idea of their child’s progress and the next steps that they need to take before the end of the academic year.

We break up for the Easter Holidays on Friday 27th March and children return to school on Tuesday 14th April.

All school clubs commence next week.

Kind regards,

Sara Williamson
